It's that time of the year . . .

. . . wherein I engage in retail therapy of the M*A*C variety. Oh yes, my friends, I hit M*A*C for my annual makeup extravaganza, and hard. Here's what I got:
Eyeshadow: FADE (will be exchange because it was supposed to be Moonlight Reflection, but the guy grabbed the wrong box)
Eyeshadow: AMBER LIGHTS (at the recommendation of both
longtimegone and
cedarlibrarian -- gorgeous color indeed)
Eyeshadow: WOODWINKED
Eyeshadow: PINK VENUS
Eyeshadow: YOGURT
Eye Paint: PIXEL
Lipgelee: SAPLICIOUS
Amplified Creme Lipstick: HALF 'N HALF
Prep & Prime Lash Base (for mascara)
Slimshine Lipstick: Long Stem Rose
Brush: #217 - Blending
Brush: #239 - Synthetic Blending
cedarlibrarian is kindly getting several items for me that weren't available here, and will give them to me when we all meet up in NOLA next week: Amplified Creme Lipstick in BLANKETY; eyeshadow in SEEDY PEARL; Lipgelee in MOONSTONE. So, yeah, MAKEUP PARTY in Cedar's room!!!! Bring your own mirror.
I also managed to find three pairs of shoes at Macy's that fit my wide-ass Donald Duck flipper feet. Shocking. I got these, these and these. All good work shoes for the summer. And not painful. Finally, I bought a lightweight cropped sweater -- in black, natch. I always go shopping intending to NOT BUY ANY MORE BLACK. It never happens. My closet is like 85% black and 15% colors other than black. I detest summer because I can't wear my favorite clothes, which tend to be in heavier materials and layered. The thought of going bare-legged makes me want to fling myself off the nearest bridge. UGH. >.<
Work is kind of stressing me out right now. First, of course I want to get EVERYTHING done before I leave for New Orleans, so I'm pushing myself to wrap up all loose ends and return to some semblance of organization before the 15th. Periodically, I suffer from tremendous burnout and that time is now. I'm just exhausted, mentally and physically. About ten days ago I was talking to one of my co-workers, Wellesley, who tipped me off that I'm being considered for an SOISP position, which is Sex Offender ISP . . . I'm not sure how I feel about that. On one hand, I've always had an intense clinical interest in sex offenders, and I've always wanted to work in sex offender supervision. On the other hand, wow, I really like doing mental health supervision -- this is something that surprised me quite a lot. My mentally ill probationers are in many ways extremely endearing. This would not be true in sex offender supervision. Also, the state court administrator's office (SCAO) sent down a directive that all specialized officers must wear body armor when conducting field work, and my bosses know I already have body armor. I'm really conflicted about this. Part of me wants to try the new challenge of doing ISP; the other part of me is happy where I am. To throw another iron in the fire, though, in order to get certain advancements at work, an officer has to have direct experience in ISP. Also, my caseload would drop from 105 to about 40. Meep, I don't know! *wibble*
Upcoming shows:
Front Line Assembly: May 13th - Meh. Saw them last year.
Bjork: May 15th - Not Going. NOLA.
Tim Finn: May 18th - Not Going. NOLA.
Lisa Gerard: May 19th - Not Going. NOLA.
Lilly Allen: May 22nd - Maybe. Would be back from NOLA.
Skinny Puppy: May 30th - AM SO THERE. Will take PTO to allow for hangover.
Linda Ronstadt: June 5th - $80? Jesus H! I love Linda, but eighty effin' dollars? *thinking about it*
The Police: June 10th - Undecided. But, I never saw them live back in the 80s, so it's tempting . . .
True Colors Tour: June 10th - I'm thinking not, because the only band in that tour I would be truly psyched about seeing live is Erasure, and I saw them just a year ago in Boulder. Plus, it conflicts with The Police.
Johnette Napolitano: June 18th - I'd like to see Johnette. Plus, it's only $16.
Madeleine Peroux: June 20th - Thinking about it. $42.00 is more reasonable.
Dolores O'Riordan: July 17th - Maybe.
Psychedelic Furs - The Fixx - The Alarm: July 19th - Holy cow I loved the Alarm in high school . . . *waves lit Bic*
Styx is touring? With Def Leppard . . . Domo? Domo?
