. . . that's right, beeyotches -- I totally fixed the plumbing in my kitchen by myself, because I have no money to pay a plumber, especially on Christmas Eve. The u-bend became clogged and I disassembled the pipes, cleaned out the clog, caught the water from the sink in a bucket, and put the pipes back together. If nothing else, it forced me to clean out the crap under my sink. How I fit all those cleaning supplies down there I'll never know.

This morning I've made sugar cookie dough, mashed potatoes for 15, sliced carrots for 15, prepared hot artichoke dip for baking tomorrow, and sliced celery sticks for 15. I also started the turkey roasting, but it didn't smell right. You know, anyone familiar with cooking just knows when something doesn't smell right. It just smelled off, so I'm dumping the turkey, unroasted. Better safe than sorry -- I'm not risking anyone's health just to get my $13 worth. Anyhow, it's back to the kitchen, where I'll be making Fool's Toffee (OMG, CRACK) and possibly a carrot cake.
Anyone have any recipes for a foolproof icing for classic Christmas cookies? Butter icing is even better.
Speaking of crack, anyone else had the new limited edition cherry-chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper? Holy crap that stuff is to die for, and I'm totally not a fan of cherry-flavored soda. It's so nice -- try it if you haven't. I'm glad it's a limited edition, because I could easily get addicted to it ala Diet Mtn Dew. I can have the occasional soda, but I have to let it go flat first (which is fine -- it doesn't bother me as long as it's very cold. YMMV) because the carbonation can cause stretching of my new stomach. NEVER MIND THAT, THOUGH, GO TRY THE CRACK!!!! And give props to Pepsi Co. for using the "Chocolate Rain" guy from YouTube for the marketing campaign.
