What is your favorite classic or retro product? It can be any kind of product -- food, cosmetic, clothing. Mine is classic Pond's Cold Cream. It reminds me of sitting and watching my mother get ready for an evening out -- as does the scent of Chanel No. 5 -- and I still use it to this day. The main ingredients are mineral oil and beeswax, which may be suspect to some, but honestly I haven't found a product yet that makes my skin feel as smooth and soft as Pond's, and believe me I've tried inumerous different brands. Pond's is also a great makeup remover for me.

Is anyone else watching Mad Men on AMC? Speaking of retro.

Chocolate lip gloss from Avon
Those magic markers that had fruit smells (OMG crack!)
Noxzema - tho' now only on sunburns
Strawberry Shortcake scents - the VCR cases are heavenly to smell at work, when they're new
J&J Baby Oil
Original scent Skin So Soft
Coke/Dr. Pepper made from real cane syrup, in bottles
Maypo cereal
Fashion Plates
The Electric Company/3-2-1 Contact

Sometimes I hit up the Mexican grocery stores here for real sugar Coke. It's definitely better. Boylan's makes some nice sodas that use cane sugar, if you can find it. Their cola is good but my particular fav is their birch beer (the redder colored one). Why, yes, I do like soda!

Catching up here . . .

Ooo, those are all excellent retro items! Avon used to make these little plastic animal pins, that had little compartments that opened up to reveal honeysuckle-scented perfume, that was the consistency of lip balm. Do you remember that stuff? There was a little skunk, I remember, and they were kind of collectible.

Yes, the Mister Sketch markers! We still use those for our probation classes and everyone can't help themselves -- they sniff the pens all the time.

I remember Bonnie Bell Dr. Pepper lip stuff and Lip Smackers that came in little tins.

- +SWATCH+ watches with the scented bands
- Tinkerbell perfume/lotion/shampoo that came in a little set
- Slime
- 10-0-9 face stuff, I think by Bonnie Bell? It was like Sea Breeze.
- Apple flavored Slice soda
- Bubble gum RECORDS that came in little record sleeves of popular hits

Sometimes I wish I could go back and live in the 70s and 80s respectively for like a week. I'd collect so much stuff!

Oh man, Tinkerbell sets were a staple of Christmas at our house!

And 10-0-9 I blame for all the zits I had! That stuff was like, God, I don't even know - it probably could remove rust from car bumpers!

I still buy Dr. Pepper Bonne Bell lip gloss. It's just the done thing. :D
