I got carded at a bar the week before last, which I found flattering. I was in a group of mixed ages and not everyone got carded, so what else could I do but feel youthful and twee?

kinderjedi: THE HOUSE MEME (no, not the TV show...)
1. When you walk in your front door, which room do you enter?
The living room.
2. Do you have a dishwasher?
Yes. Sometimes it fills up with grody water from the disposal. I'm not sure why!
3. Is your living room carpeted or does it have hardwood floors?
Hardwood, some of it original, judging from the width of the boards and the coloring of the wood.
4. Do you keep your kitchen knives on the counter or in a drawer?
On the kitchen counter in a little butcher block-like holder.
5. House, apartment, duplex or trailer?
House. 1890 Victorian. Yellow.
6. How many bedrooms is it?
Technically four, but the downstairs room is really a study.
7. Gas stove or electric?
Gas. I will never voluntarily own an electric stove/oven ever again. Gas FTW!
8. Do you have a yard?
Yes, it's just the right size. I can garden, but it's not too big so that yardwork would suck.
9. What size TV is in the living room?
I'm not sure? 27" maybe?
10. Are your plates in the same cupboard as your cups?
Yes, all the dishes and glassware are in the same cabinet.
11. Is there a coffee maker sitting on your kitchen counter?
No. I don't drink coffee and DH gets his coffee at the office or from a coffee shop.
There appears to be no number twelve. 12. I will make a number 12: What is the quirkiest thing about your house?
I have a secret compartment in the floorboards in my closet -- the board lifts up and there's a space there. Sometimes I hide little things in the compartment for my kids.
13. What room is your computer in?
We have, like, five computers . . . mainly I use DH's desktop, which is in the computer room, or the laptop out in the living room.
14. Are there pictures hanging in your living room?
Yes - an oil seascape over the fireplace and two abstract acrylic paintings my dad did in 1960.
15. Are there any themes found in your home?
Yes -- Victorian and Gryffindor colors red/gold.
16. What kind of laundry detergent do you use?
Tide with Bleach; Downy fabric softener; Clorox bleach for whites; Clorox II for colors; Zout; Shout; Oxyclean
17. Do you use dryer sheets?
Yep!
18. Do you have any curtains in your home?
Yes. I have three sets of curtains in my house -- dining room, computer room and master bedroom.
19. What colour is your fridge?
Dirt-colored. It's supposed to be white.
20. Is your house clean?
It's always cluttered. It's not particularly clean right now either.
21. What room is the most neglected?
The computer room -- it serves as kind of a catch all.
22. Are the dishes in your sink clean or dirty?
My sink is actually clear of dishes right now.
23. How long have you lived in your home?
Two years exactly.
24. Where did you live before?
In a 'burb tract home in Arvada. No panache and HOA from Hell. It's why I've had "thwarting my HOA" listed as an LJ interest.
25. Do you have one of those fluffy toilet lid covers on your toilet?
No. But I used to have a crocheted dolly thing that covered rolls of toilet paper. My grandmother made it for me. It was hideous.
26. Do you have a scale anywhere in your house?
I have a food scale that goes up to four pounds. But I don't have a bathroom scale.
27. How many mirrors are in your house?
Two. Plus I have a little mirror compact in my purse.
28. Do you have a garage?
Yes! It's a little quaint carriage house, big enough for one modern car. That is, it would be if the barn-style doors weren't welded shut with metal bars. It's on my to-do list to get a new garage door put in, so we could actually park the car inside it.
